Your Vote Counts

The postal election for Queenstown Lakes District Council will be held from September 21 to October 13.

You should receive your voting papers 21-26 September. If you do not, phone Queenstown Lake District Council for special voting papers or you can vote at the special voting booth that will be available at the Queenstown Council office. You then have until noon on October 13 to vote.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE.

You need to be enrolled to vote. If your name appears on the electoral roll, you are eligible to vote. Queenstown's preliminary electoral rolls will be available for public inspection at Queenstown's Council office and all district libraries and post shops from Friday, 27 July, to Friday, 24 August.

All parliamentary electors are automatically enrolled on the local body electoral roll. A confirmation card will be sent to the last known address of all parliamentary electors during July and August.

If you need to change any details on the residential electoral roll, you can either:

  • complete the appropriate form at any post shop
  • phone 0800 ENROLNOW (0800 367 656)
  • access the Electoral Enrolment Centre website on www.elections.org.nz

If you own property in the Queenstown Lakes District but you live somewhere else, you are eligible to be enrolled on the non-resident ratepayer roll.

A company, corporation or society paying rates on a property in the district may nominate one of its members or officers as a ratepayer elector, as long as the nominated person lives outside of the area.

Ratepayer roll enrolment forms are available from council offices in both Queenstown and Wanaka and at all district libraries.
