Vote Cath Gilmour for a thriving community

Nominated by Simon Hayes
Seconded by Susan Mawhinney

Thank you for taking the time to visit. Here you can learn what I love about our community, what I have to offer and why I'm standing for Queenstown Lakes District Council. A vote for me will be a vote for a thriving community.

To thrive, we need to be;

  • A centre of economic growth and enterprise. We must attract creative and energetic people and businesses, and support them with the infrastructure they need.
  • A connected community, where people put down roots and belong. We must ensure Wakatipu continues to be a good place to live, to work, to play, to bring up children, to grow old.
  • People who care for our environment. What we do with our sewage, our rubbish, our developments and our transport networks all have an impact.

Over 44 years, I have watched Queenstown grow from a small village to a bustling international resort. It’s a great place with exciting prospects – but it also faces real challenges.

We stand at the critical threshold between small town and little city. In this transition, we need to retain the wonderful essence that makes this a great place to live, to put down roots.

It's Council that sets the stage for our community and I believe this role has never been more important than now.

I want Wakatipu to be the best it can be – a vibrant community that retains its go-getter spirit and the magical environment that drew many of us here. Finding ways to achieve this will be my special focus.

I welcome your support.
